Everyone who studies abroad has one vivid memory that ignites all of the others. For me, it is swimming in the ocean along Lokaro in Madagascar. Growing up in landlocked North Dakota, I am captivated by everything the ocean has to offer: sandy beaches the color of snow, tidepools concealing hidden treasures, rugged mountains in the distance. In the water, I am taken aback by the first wave that crashes over my head. As a child my mother made me gargle with salt water to cure sore throats. “Tastes like the ocean” she used to say. After a day of swimming, I agree. I will never forget this day. Contact admissions |
