Erin Mandley   |   When in Rome   |   art-history   |   January 2010

Rome is like a bad relationship; you try to only remember the good parts.

This is the inside of the Coliseum, Colosseum
This is the view from the top of the hill in the Roman forum. That big white building is the Victor Emmanuel. That thing could be seen from everywhere.
This is the beautiful Trevi fountain.
Hadrian's Villa- Hadrian's "backyard patio"
Hadrian's Villa-hadrian's private island.
View from the top of the Victor Emmanuel at sunset.
Hadrian's Villa in Tivol, Italy. That's me in the center just for scale.
ST. PETER'S
Inside St. Peter's and one of Bernini's greatest creations, the Baldachin, or Baldacchino in Italian.

DIG DEEPER

We arrived in Rome on a rainy European Monday where we were greeted by cranky customs, a tour bus with an amazing guide, and a quiant, cozy hotel staff. The first day was all too breath-taking, with the coliseum...isn't it Colosseum??, The Roman Forum and the Victor Emmanuel. The lighting in Rome, for you photographers out there, is amazing with every angle and every time of the day...except between 12-2 I found. As the days went on, I was scared back into my religion, got a great workout on the Spanish steps and the streets of Rome and indulged in the greatest food ever with amazing people :)
