DIG DEEPER

Last fall semester I decided I needed to do research before graduating. My professor let me in on a new project. I never expected it to take me to the Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico! Working with 15 other schools, we joined the undergraduate teams of ALFALFA (Arecibo Legacy Fast Arecibo L-Band Feed Array- what a mouthful!) We studied the properties of a group of galaxies. Then we got to travel to the telescope itself to experience the observing process and actually RUN the most sensitive single-dish radio telescope on Earth! I'm basing my thesis on the experience. Where else but Hartwick?
